Spending limits

How daily limits work, what counts toward them, and how to increase your cap.

Why limits exist

Daily limits protect you. If someone gets access to your WhatsApp, they can't drain your wallet because Sippy caps how much can be sent in a day. You choose the cap, and you can change it anytime.

The two tiers

StatusMaximum daily limit
Unverified (no email)$50 per day
Verified (email confirmed)$500 per day

When you first sign up, your cap is $50. Once you verify your email, you can raise it up to $500.

Your actual daily limit is whatever you set in Settings -- it just can't exceed the cap for your verification tier.

What counts toward the limit

These sends use your daily limit:

  • WhatsApp sends -- every transfer you make through the Sippy WhatsApp chat
  • Web wallet "Free gas" sends -- when Sippy submits the transaction for you

What doesn't count

  • Web wallet "Direct" sends -- when you submit the transaction yourself and pay the gas fee. Direct mode has no daily cap.

So if you need to send more than your daily limit allows, switch to Direct mode on the web wallet.

When does the limit reset?

Your limit resets every 24 hours from midnight UTC. If you spent $40 today, you'll have your full limit again tomorrow.

Velocity limits

Sippy also watches for unusual patterns -- like many small sends in quick succession. If something looks off, Sippy may slow down or pause sends temporarily as a safety measure. This is rare and usually resolves within minutes. It's another layer of protection in case your account is compromised.

How to change your limit

  1. Go to sippy.lat/settings
  2. Find Daily limit
  3. Choose a new amount (up to $50 unverified, or up to $500 verified)
  4. Save

Changes take effect immediately.
