Fees, timing, and limits
What transfers cost, how fast they are, and how daily limits work across WhatsApp and the web wallet.
The quick version
Sippy charges no fees on any transfer. Gas fees on Arbitrum are tiny. Most sends complete in a few seconds.
Fees
| What | Cost |
|---|---|
| WhatsApp sends | Free -- Sippy covers gas |
| Web wallet (Free gas mode) | Free -- Sippy covers gas |
| Web wallet (Direct mode) | You pay gas, typically < $0.01 |
| Receiving money | Free |
| Holding USDC | Free |
| Sippy platform fee | None. Zero. On any transfer. |
There are no hidden charges, no percentage cuts, no monthly fees. Sippy makes no money when you send money.
The only cost you might ever see is the Arbitrum network fee (gas) when using Direct mode on the web wallet. On Arbitrum, gas typically costs less than one cent per transaction.
Timing
Transfers on Arbitrum confirm in seconds -- usually under 5. Once confirmed, the money is in the recipient's wallet. There's no pending period, no business-day delays, no clearinghouse in between.
If the recipient is already on Sippy, they get a WhatsApp notification right away. If they're not on Sippy yet, they get an invite message and can claim the funds by signing up.
USDC and the dollar
USDC is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. One USDC equals one dollar. It's issued by Circle, a regulated financial company, and backed by cash and short-term US Treasury bonds.
When you send someone 10 USDC, you're sending them $10. The value doesn't fluctuate the way other digital currencies do.
Daily limits
Sippy-sponsored sends (WhatsApp and Free gas mode) have a daily cap. This exists to protect you -- if someone gets access to your WhatsApp, the limit constrains how much they can send.
| Tier | Max daily limit |
|---|---|
| Unverified (no email) | $50 |
| Verified (email confirmed) | $500 |
You set your own limit within your tier in Settings. Limits reset at midnight UTC.
Direct mode sends (web wallet) don't count toward the limit. Because you're submitting and paying for those transactions yourself, there's no daily cap.
See Spending limits for the full breakdown.
